“Every year, almost 25 percent of U.S. beaches are closed at least once because of water pollution,” according to GreenStudentU.com. The future of Spring Break may soon mean the beaches in some areas are off-limits. But this can all be changed with the reduction of pesticides and more conscientious action from students.
Next Spring Break, or even for Summer Break, consider signing up for what is called an “alternative break.” Instead of just lounging by the pool or working a mediocre fast-food part-time job, you can be traveling in a foreign city, helping with water and environmental relief efforts.
