Big Hearts

Although it’s members just delivered a half semi-load of donated clothing to The Hope Rescue Mission in downtown Fort Wayne. The Big Hearts Club has already started accepting donations for their next fund raiser. This time it will be collecting food donations for The Hope Rescue Mission.

From now until May 14, the public can drop off non-parishable food items in barrels located in Walb Student Union, Gates Sports Center, Kettler Hall, The Science Building, Student Housing, Cantebury Green and Saint Joe Place Apartments.

Matthew Bokhart, President of The Big Hearts Club, said that the shelter has to support more people than ever right because of the economic climate. “With the economy the way it is, the homeless shelter has the highest number of dependents it has ever had.”

Over 60 members strong, The Big Hearts Club was founded a semester ago, on promoting college students to volunteer within their community, “Building leadership, communication and character is the mission of the club,” said Bokhart.
