IPFW Riverfest

On Saturday June 26th IPFW will be hosting Riverfest.

This event is dedicated to the preservation of the rivers in the Fort Wayne area, and will include many activities designed for both fun and education.

On the river there will be fat water kayaking and canoe racing, water skiing, and pontoon riders. Furthermore, owners of pontoons have been invited to come with their boats fully decorated. Other events will include a 4K walk and run designed for families, a Family Fest area with interactive games for everyone, live entertainment, a fine arts competition, a fine arts and crafts sale, river rides, and educational river walks.

Vendors and concession stands will be selling food and drinks and there will also be alcoholic beverages available for adults.

Live music and entertainment will be going on all day long as well. This will be happening, first, on a stage in the Family Fest area where the music and entertainment will be geared towards families. This will last until 4, and then two stages near the river with bands will be playing from 4 until midnight.

At night, there will be fires lining the shores of the river, and they will be shooting off fireworks from a barge in the middle of the river.

Some of the groups that will be playing at the Riverfest event include Borrowed Time, Crush, Urban Legend, Moser Woods, and Chris Worth.

Beginning on May 1st, the public will be able to vote in a contest where they will pick a single band to play at the event. This contest will last until midnight on May 14th. Anyone interested in voting should check out the website at ipfwriverfest.org. Rules and guidelines can be found for voting in the events section under the rockin’ the river band contest.

Some of the sponsors, partners, and volunteers for the event include Steel Dynamics, the IPSGA, the City of Fort Wayne, the Allen County government, Lutheran Health Network, Parkview Health System, the Fort Wayne/Allen County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Indiana Michigan Power, Sweetwater, Tower Bank, Barrett and McNagny, Engineering Resources, and Swiss Re. There were also Media sponsors including WANE TV, Majic, WAJI, and Rock 104.
