Dear students:

As I approach the end of my tenure as your chancellor, I’ve been reflecting on my five years at IPFW. While there have been countless memorable moments, the one thing that has been most satisfying is the opportunity to work with such a diverse and talented community of students, faculty, staff and alumni. Every time I speak with one of you, I’m reminded how special this university is.

You and your fellow students reflect what’s best about higher education. Each of you comes to the university with a unique perspective, but you’re united by one simple goal: improving yourself to prepare for the future. I hope that during your time here you’ve seen that this university has the same goal for itself and its students. During my time as chancellor, I have strived to make your success our top priority. I’m confident that your next chancellor will retain that focus as well, even as the university continues to evolve to meet the needs of students, employers and the community. The changes we’re making will ensure that you and all who follow you will continue to have many possibilities to grow and thrive.

In the midst of this time of change, I also want to applaud you for choosing IPFW and remaining part of our campus community as we become Purdue Fort Wayne and Indiana University Fort Wayne. You made an excellent choice when you decided to enroll at this institution, and the credentials you’re earning will serve you well throughout your lives. You’re part of a more-than-50-year legacy of excellence, along with almost 60,000 alumni who have received a degree or certificate from IPFW. In fact, in just the last five years, more than 8,000 graduates have joined our alumni family. I am eager to see you succeed as they have, and I can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish.

I am grateful to each of you for making my time at IPFW so rewarding. Thank you for being such great students and for the privilege of serving as your chancellor. I wish for each and every one of you much success and the very best in the future.
