The IPFW Alumni Association held their annual Mastodon Roast where they unveiled a new name and logo on Oct. 5

The IPFW Alumni Association will now be known as the Mastodon Alumni Association.

According to the alumni website the new association will unite over 59,000 alumni from the Fort Wayne campus and the new Purdue Fort Wayne.

“We felt it was important in this transition to build an alumni association that not only celebrates the history of our campus, but is inclusive of every student who has experienced it,” Vice Chancellor for Advancement Angie Fincannon said in a press release.

The change comes after an announcement from September that the Office of Advancement and LaBov Marketing Communications and Training had partnered to create a new brand and strategy for the new alumni association.

According to the press release the Mastodon Alumni Association will be a separate entity from Purdue University and Indiana University’s  alumni associations. The new association is open to any graduate who has previously taken classes on the Fort Wayne campus, regardless of whether their degree is from Purdue or Indiana.

The Mastodon Alumni Association is offering as much as 50 percent off personal and business membership from Oct. 5 to Oct. 31.

Members receive discounts on a variety of services and campus products, invitations to alumni events, resume placement into a local database, career planning, possible scholarships for children or spouse, and other many benefits.

Allen County Commissioner and IPFW alumnus Nelson Peters also announced a special proclamation at the roast. According to the proclamation Oct. 5, 2017 will be known as Day of the Mastodon in Allen County.
