Astronaut to Speak at IPFW

As part of the Omnibus Lecture Series,  astronaut Mark Kelly will speak to IPFW faculty, students and community members at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

According to the Omnibus Lecture Series’ web page, Kelly’s speech will be entitled “Endeavour to Succeed.” In the speech, Kelly will discuss his experience commanding the final mission of The Endeavour spacecraft,  his service in the Navy and the recovery of his wife, Gabrielle Giffords, who was the victim of an assassination attempt in 2011.

The  web page also describes how Kelly will use his life experiences to encourage others to “accomplish their mission” and be successful in life.

Kelly is an extremely decorated veteran who has won many awards including The Legion Of Merit.

Aside from his service in the military and his experiences as an astronaut, Kelly is also a No. 1 New York Times bestselling author who has authored and co-authored six books, including a series for children

His official web site lists that Kelly has logged over 6,000 hours of flight time and over 50 days in outerspace.
