Three Rivers Music Theatre will be performing “Date Night: A Cabaret” at 8 p.m. Feb 10, and 8 p.m. and 11 p.m Feb 11. The show is the latest in the company’s cabaret series and features several songs about dating and relationships performed by local actors and singers.

One of these singers is Victoria Smead, a freshman majoring in mathematics teaching. Smead will be singing Elton John’s “Your Song” in what will be her first time working with Three Rivers Music Theatre.

“I’ve seen Three Rivers shows before and they are such a talented group of people,” Smead said. “I’m very excited to be performing with them this time instead of just watching them.”

Smead will be one of 12 performers throughout the cabaret. The songs will cover falling in love, marriage, breakups and all of the other twists and turns in “the roller coaster ride of love,” according to the event’s Facebook page.

“Date Night” is an entertaining way for couples to spend Valentine’s Day weekend and is a celebration of love in all its forms, Smead said.

“It’s just such an upbeat show; it’s funny and it’s fun to watch,” Smead said. “It’s also a fun night away if you enjoy watching musical productions but don’t want to sit there forever or pay a thousand dollars for a Broadway show.”

General admission to “Date Night: A Cabaret” is $15 and $10 for students with valid ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Three Rivers box office or online at trmtdate.brownpapertickets.com.
