IPFW Students and alumni are getting connected with area businesses through IPFW Career Services.

Partnering businesses are helping Career Services better accommodate students, alumni, and faculty. Some of the money from the business partners this year will be used to buy students pad portfolios for their resumes and other documents. These will ultimately help students in getting organized and assist them in their professional development.

Corporate sponsors of Career Services have a variety of needs ranging from recruiting to marketing.

Ashley Calderon, director of Career Services, states that their corporate sponsors “want to get in front of the students.”

Corporate sponsors are doing this through Career Services webinars, job fairs, sponsoring student groups, immersion excursions, etc.

The Career Services 2015-2016 corporate sponsor list includes businesses such as Biolife, Lincoln Financial, Extension Healthcare, Federated Insurance, Logikos, Northwestern Mutual, Glenbrook Automotive Group, Buchanan Logistics, and many others.

Area businesses who partner with Career Services gain access to over 13,000 students and 50,000 alumni. There is a high need for experience in IT, sales, business, accounting, finance, human services and many others.

Pad portfolios will be handed out to the first 200 students to arrive at the Mastodon Job and Internship Fair.

The collaboration also helps Career Services in getting new software, updating their highly trafficked lobby, and developing more programs and services.

Students can learn more about the opportunities Career Services has to offer by visiting their website or attending Career Services events.

Calderon said, “94% of the class of 2014 stayed in Indiana, they know students are going to stick around … there are many corporations vested in this region, they want to give back and hire IPFW students.”

Career Services is able to give them the right people to help them with any needs or questions they may have. IPFW Career Services plans to continue to grow and expand their list of corporate sponsors this year and the years to come.
