The Hot Cider Hustle is coming to Fort Wayne.

While many Hot Cider Hustles take place around the country, this will be the first event in Fort Wayne. The race will take place Nov. 12 with last-minute registration starting at 7 a.m. and the chip-timed 5K starting at 9 a.m. Awards will be at 9:45 a.m. with the course closing at 10:20 a.m. Participants can choose to run in either the timed or untimed category.

Tickets will be $36.99 until Sept. 27, when they will be raised to $60. Participants will receive a half-zip pullover and finisher mug. There will be hot cider and caramel apples available after the race.

“It’s an awesome fall event,” said Brandon Schnaufer, event planner from All Community Events in Chicago. “We typically see a lot of people that come out and enjoy this and make it part of their fall tradition.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Fort Wayne’s Team RWB, which aims “to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity,” according to teamrwb.org.

“Joining Team RWB has enabled me to find ways to reach out and encourage others as well as discover other groups working with veterans and coming along them to help their work,” said Richard Dickerman, captain for Fort Wayne’s Team RWB, which includes approximately 200 members.

Members of Team RWB plan on either participating in or volunteering at the race. They will also have an information table, Dickerman said.
