The Fort Wayne Home and Garden Show returns to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for its 45th year March 1-4.

“It is a great way for somebody to come and see how many different options are in the community for home and garden,” said Becky Williamson, co-producer of the event.

Started by her grandfather, the show is a long-running family venture.

Williamson’s mother Karen Tejera helped her father with the show, and when he passed in 2003, Williamson began to help.

“I love the show, and it has become a part of our family,” Williamson said.

Her family plans to continue to produce the event each year, as Williamson’s children are interested coming onboard.

They plan to continue producing the show in Fort Wayne as long as there is a need for it, Williamson said.

The show is open Thurs. and Fri. 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sun. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tickets for the event cost $10 for adults, $6 for seniors (62+) and children 15 and under are free. Coliseum parking for the show is $5 per vehicle.

Guests can receive $1 off general admission Thursday and Friday by donating a canned food item to the Community Harvest Food Bank.

Attendees can also save $2 by downloading a digital coupon at www.home-gardenshow.com.

The show will feature over 20 certified master gardeners providing educational seminars and discussions.

“I don’t have a green thumb myself,” Williamson said. “And there’s been a lot of valuable advice given to me at the show over the years.”

There will be more than 650 exhibitors with project ideas, products and information. These include remodeling, cleaning, landscaping, maintenance, food, furniture, decor, and health and wellness exhibitors.

The Home & Garden Show will be at the Coliseum March 1-4.

“It is a wonderful opportunity to see all of the remodeling resources in Fort Wayne in one place,” said Jennifer Potter, a sophomore computer engineering major at IPFW. “It’s a great starting place for those looking to build a home or remodel a home.”

Potter attended the show a few years ago when her and her husband were looking into remodeling their home and said she will most likely return to the show in the future for more renovation ideas.

In addition to home and garden resources, there will be many more activities and entertainment to meet everyone’s interest.

This year’s rearranged floor plan will make the show’s family fun area more prominent, said Williamson.

The area will have a Little House on the Prairie theme and provide families with the opportunity to visit a petting zoo, get their faces painted, make balloon animals, dress up as characters and get their pictures taken.

Indiana Wild, All Star Martial Arts Demonstration and Creative Comedy will all be featured in the family fun area at various times throughout the event. For the complete family fun stage schedule visit home-gardenshow.com/visitors/family-fun-area.

Every hour a $100 Showbucks gift certificate will be randomly awarded to a lucky guest and can be spent on direct sale products at the show.

“It’s just like finding a $100 bill on the floor,” said Tejera, co-producer of the Fort Wayne Home and Garden Show.

Special guests to the show include Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel, the guys from MBN properties, and Mad Dog and Merrill.

Twiggy is no newcomer to the show and will be returning for her farewell appearance before retiring this summer. Guests will have several opportunities to watch Twiggy perform, learn about water sport safety and take selfies with the famous squirrel.

Tabbed for an HGTV pilot in 2017 called Small Town Big Flip, the guys from MBN properties are local experts in the real estate industry. They specialize in reconstruction and rehab of affordable homes and will be sharing DIY home fixes, resale tips and advice for home projects.

Self-proclaimed “grillologists,” Mad Dog and Merrill, will be returning to entertain and educate attendees on grilling practices.

Presenting sponsor of the Fort Wayne Home and Garden Show is Windows Doors and More and media sponsors include Wayne TV, Fun 101.7 and Magic 95.1.
