According to a recent News Sentinel article, Gov. Mike Pence signed a bill Tuesday that bans minors under the age of 16 from using tanning beds at tanning facilities regardless if they have parental supervision. Those between of the ages of 17 and 18 need permission from a gaurdian.

Indiana is one of thirty-three states to supervise tanning use amongst youth.

Some criticised that this bill stepped on the toes of parental rights, others claimed that it didn’t regulate tanning use enough.

Last year, a ban to keep youth under 18 from using tanning beds failed.
