Thirteen Fort Wayne businesses will receive grants from the city to improve the street-view appeal of their buildings.

Together, the grants total $303,859 from the Commercial Façade Grant program established in 2008. As part of receiving the grant, business owners must match the amount dollar for dollar. However, this year’s awardees have promised to contribute $1.1 million in private investments to assist in improving their property.

Improvements that the grant money might cover for the cost of renovations include: new siding, lights, awnings, parking renovations, signs and fencing.

So far, the Commercial Façade Grant program has provided $1.07 million to applicants and completed (or nearly completed) 63 projects within the city.
