In support of breast cancer awareness, IPFW women’s pink out volleyball team cominated against North Dakota State Bisons at their pink out game Oct. 8. The Mastodons were off to a rocky start, as they took a hard loss in the first game.

However, our girls dressed in pink, specifically for the occasion, came back strong on the second game, and continued on their winning streak for the rest of the evening.

Este Stoffel and Olivia Hahn, defensive specialists of the team, were able to pitch in 13 and then 11 digs throughout the night, which surely assisted the team in gaining their win.

Several other of our mastodons made impressive contributions to the game, especially Somer Johnson and Emily Spencer, helping their team immensely by adding 20 kills and 23 digs to the scoreboard.

“I think that everyone played some of their best volleyball last night,” Johnson said. “We all did our jobs and trusted each other. The win was really important because it was the last game in the first round of conference play. We also needed a little bit of a confidence booster going into the upcoming weeks.”

The Dons take on Western Michigan on Oct. 21, and shortly after continue their conference competition with IUPUI on Oct. 24.
